Summary

This video explains how to flush the pump at the end of the day using clean solvent or water (depending on coating type). Proper flushing removes paint from the system, cleans hoses, and prepares the pump and guns for shutdown or cleaning.

Quick Guide

Preparation

  1. Shut off air pressure to the pump:

    • Turn off the main valve or regulator.

  2. Hold the drain tube (preferably submerged in water).

  3. Open the ball valve to release pressure.

  4. Confirm all pressure is relieved.

Flush the Pump

  1. Remove the pickup tube from paint and allow it to drain.

  2. Wipe the pickup tube clean with a rag.

  3. Briefly stroke the pump without solvent to clear remaining paint.

  4. Allow air to pass through the system (“air chop”) to:

    • Separate paint from solvent

    • Create turbulence to clean hose walls

  5. Place pickup tube into clean solvent or water.

  6. Flush until clean solvent flows consistently from the drain line.

Restore Pressure for Gun Cleaning

  1. Close the ball valve.

  2. Turn air pressure back on to 4–5 bar.

  3. Pump is now ready to flush and clean spray guns.

Key Notes

  • End-of-day flushing prevents paint buildup and clogging.

  • Air turbulence improves internal hose cleaning.

  • Always fully relieve pressure before opening lines.
